Purveyors of finely crafted downtempo beats and high-energy party
music since 2001, Uprite dub always delivers an outstanding live
show, and will do anything to keep the booty skankin'. Armed with
a tight horn section backed by masters of dub riddim, they never
fail. Uprite is inspired by the rockers/dub era of Jamaican Reggae,
gang-style vocals like the Specials or Beastie Boys, and Dancehall
like Michigan and Smiley.
One year ago, Uprite dub played a show with WPB in Portland,
OR. Being inspired by thier dynamic array of styles and zest for
life on the road, it was decided Uprite needed to quit working,
jump in a van, and blaze thier own trail. With a little help from
Papa Crix, the boys have made that jump from local faves to regional
phenoms. In the IMR spirit, Uprite does thier own production,
promotion, booking, graphics and web design. Uprite brings these
and other talents to the IMR team. Thier next release will soon
be available through Invisible Mass and Megalith Records.
